FIELD TRIP- BLACKWATER

Category: General FIELD TRIP- BLACKWATER

01/13/2024

7:30 a.m., Saturday, January 13.
Winter birding in Blackwater River State Forest
with Mackenzie Sconyers leading the trip.

We anticipate finding wintering species including sparrows on this, our first winter field trip venture to the forest.

Meet at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot behind the McDonald’s located at 6485 Hwy 90 in Milton.

Bring a picnic lunch and a folding chair as picnic table space is limited (especially if we decide to picnic along one of the forestry roads!). Return by midafternoon. Expect moderate walking.

Field trips are open to the public and free of charge, but contributions are always appreciated.

All birding experience levels are welcome.

Bring binoculars and/or a spotting scope, as well as sunscreen, insect protection, appropriate shoes, hat, water, and snacks on all trips.

Please do not wear scented cologne, perfumes, or aftershave on field trips. It distracts from the experience in nature, and some participants are highly sensitive to it.
